# Make your first video

This page walks you from signing in to downloading your first 15-second vertical ad. The steps take a few minutes. How long generation and export take depends on the video.

## Before you begin {#before-you-begin}

- You need an email address. TakePilot has no passwords. Each time you sign in, you enter a 6-digit code sent by email.
- Making videos uses credits. Check what you have left under your name at the bottom left → "Credits" ([Credits and plans](https://docs.takepilot.ai/en/credits-and-plans)).
- If you have a product photo, register it first for a better result. You can also start without one.

## 1. Sign in {#sign-in}

Open TakePilot and press "Log in with email". On the sign-in screen, enter your email address and press the send code button, then enter the 6-digit code from the email. Once you are in, the "New chat" screen opens.

## 2. Describe your video {#describe-your-video}

Write the video you want in one sentence. At first, include three things: the product, the length, and what to show first.

> A 15-second ad for our yuzu soda. Open with the can popping and the fizz in the first second, and end on the product name

The three choices under the "New chat" input set the video shape, how much the agent does on its own, and the AI. You can leave them as they are.

| Choice | Starting value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Video shape | 9:16 · Auto · Standard | Orientation, length and quality. "Auto" sets the length from the narration. Pick 15 for this example |
| How far the agent goes | Ask before generating | Ask for approval before anything that costs a lot |
| AI | The recommended model | The model that thinks. No need to change it |

Press send (↑) and the agent starts.

> [!TIP]
> If you registered a product, write `@product-name` so the product appears exactly as in your photo.

## 3. Review the script {#review-the-script}

The agent first posts a script: the picture and narration for each scene. If you want changes, just say so in the chat.

> Make the second scene a hand holding the can

## 4. Approve and generate {#approve-and-generate}

Before generating footage, the agent shows an approval card with what it will make, how many, and how many credits it will use. If it looks right, press "Approve and continue". To skip it, press ×.

![An approval card: "Make 3 person clips", "4,200 credits" and an "Approve and continue" button](https://docs.takepilot.ai/images/en/quickstart-approval.png)

> [!NOTE]
> Each video has a credit limit ("Limit per video" inside "How far the agent goes", 100,000 credits by default). If a video is about to go over it, the agent stops and asks.

## 5. Watch the result {#watch-the-result}

When it is done, the video appears in the chat. Play it and ask for changes in the chat. Each change makes a new version, and earlier versions are kept.

| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Download | Saves the mp4 |
| Edit | Opens the editor in a new tab to fix captions and layout by hand |

Finished videos also appear in "Library". From a video in the library, "Start a chat with this video" makes other versions from it.

## Common actions {#common-actions}

| I want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Use an avatar or product | Type `@` in the input and pick one |
| Stop being asked before generating | Set "How far the agent goes" to "Go ahead within the budget" |
| See the script first | Set "How far the agent goes" to "Script only" |
| See credits used | Your name at the bottom left → "Usage" |
